Safeguarding Policy

Daventry Town Bowls Club acknowledges it’s legal and moral obligation to protect all Young People and Vulnerable adults whilst participating in activities and to safeguard their welfare within a safe and secure environment for everyone, including those who are disabled.

The Policy will be reviewed by the Management Committee on a yearly basis and amended as required in line with any changes in legislation. Guidance from Bowls England will be sought as part of the review.

The Management Committee will ensure that the policy and procedures will be implemented as required by the National Governing Body.

The Club Welfare Officer has a responsibility to respond to any allegations, concerns, or child protection and vulnerable adult incidents, by referring to local Social Services, NSPCC or Police as appropriate. Incident information shall be forwarded to the Bowls England Safeguarding Officer. Club officials will be made aware of any such incident taking place.

Details of the Club Welfare Officer(s) and other helpful contacts can be found on the club notice board. The Club Welfare Officer(s) will receive training and support to ensure they are aware of current best practice and how to manage any safeguarding issues that may occur.

All club members, Coaches and Umpires have a responsibility to report concerns to the Club Welfare Officer.

Parents or carers also have a responsibility to work with the club in implementing procedures and providing participants with the necessary information to keep themselves safe.

This policy will be monitored in accordance with Bowls England and Bowls Development Alliance.
